His novel does something similar to this with a much darker end. A group of editors play a game amongst themselves of inventing a conspiracy to take over the world, that some outsiders come to believe is true.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3752565604301239304.post-81250995560789336312010-05-11T22:11:38.968-04:002010-05-11T22:11:38.968-04:00Thanks for the comments, everyone. Sans: actually...Thanks for the comments, everyone. Sans: actually, I've heard of similarities with other stories as well from other people. I'll look for Kosmos. kulturalfungus: Actually, since Bateman uses my name everywhere, I figured there was no point in hiding it and not using it in this article. I also saw on another blog that linked to mine where someone assumed it is just a fake name. I admit it is common, of course. TJ: I hope you don't mind if I start telling people that! Anyway, I'm glad you all enjoyed it - that's why I wrote it, I wanted people to find it as interesting as I did.David Levinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11285619891322817506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3752565604301239304.post-50104215056607016852010-05-11T14:00:26.298-04:002010-05-11T14:00:26.298-04:00This is marvelous and intriguing. I was reminded of the novell...This is fascinating. I was reminded of the novella, _Kosmos_, by Witold Gombrowicz. While it didn't involve alien contact, it did involve two colleges students who spend the summer in a countryside boarding house to study for their comps. Maybe because of the stress, they start "finding" all kinds of clues that something sinister is going on in the house. I won't give away the ending, but it's humorous in the way that Central European literature so often is.Sanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10548479985480958269noreply@blogger.com
